About us

About Metro City Moves — the founder, the method and the proof

Metro City Moves is a small London removals firm run by its founder, Daniel. Your enquiry is handled by him personally. Every job is surveyed before it is priced, every quote comes in writing, and the council fees we publish carry the date we read them.

  • Who you deal with

    Daniel, the founder

Every enquiry is handled by him personally.

  • Where we work

    Every London postcode

Five region pages, each with the access problems we plan for there.

  • Before any price

    A survey, every time

By video call or in person, usually about ten minutes.

  • When we answer

    Any hour of the day

Answered nights and weekends, not only office hours.

The founder

Daniel, founder

One name on the guides, on the quotes and on your enquiry. Here is who that is, and what he does with the job before a van is ever booked.

Daniel, founder of Metro City Moves.

Removals is a strange thing to buy. You hand nearly everything you own to people you met that morning. So the least a removals firm owes you is a name, a face, and a way of working you can check for yourself.

Daniel founded Metro City Moves and runs it day to day. Enquiries come to him personally rather than into a queue, so the person who reads what you sent is the person who owns the answer.

He also writes the access guides here. When a guide quotes a council’s parking fee, that figure was read on the council’s own page, and the date it was read is printed beside it. When two council pages contradict each other, we print both figures and say which page said what.

You will not find a biography padded with years and badges. What you can check is already on the site: the guides carry his name, the fees carry the dates they were read, and the reviews sit on Google under the names of the people who wrote them.

What that means on your move

  • A survey before any priceBy video call or in person, usually about ten minutes.
  • The quote in writingItemised, with what is not included spelled out.
  • Guides under his nameParking, access and council fees, every figure dated.
  • One person to askThe same name on the enquiry, the guides and the answer you get back.

How we work

Survey, quote, then the van

The same order on every job. Each step exists so the next one cannot go wrong quietly.

  1. Survey first

No price is given before someone has looked at the job. A video call or a visit, usually about ten minutes, covering the stairs, the doorways and where the van can stand.

    Usually about ten minutes

  2. The quote, in writing

Itemised, with what is not included spelled out, so the comparison you make against other quotes is a fair one. Nothing is added afterwards that was not in it.

    Itemised, exclusions listed

  3. Access, checked before the day

Stairs, lifts, turns and where the van can legally stand. If a bay needs suspending, each council’s process, fee and notice period is in the guides.

Moving-day guides on parking and access
  4. Facts, dated

A council fee on this site carries the date it was read on the council’s own page. Where a council contradicts itself, we print both figures and say which page said what.

    Every figure carries its date

The quiet part

What we do not claim

Removals sites are covered in stars, badges and big round numbers. This one is quieter on purpose. The rule is simple: if there is no document behind a claim, the claim does not go on this site.

Our reviews are real and they live on Google. We link to them rather than quote a figure, because a figure printed here would go stale the day the next review arrived. Read them at the source, under the names of the people who wrote them.

House rules for this website

  • Council and TfL fees appear with the date we read them
  • Reviews are linked at the source, never turned into a number
  • No stars we awarded ourselves, no counts we cannot show you
  • Anything we cannot prove stays off the site
