What is different here

Moving in Central London is not the same job everywhere else

The things that change the price here, rather than a list that would fit any London postcode.

  1. The Congestion Charge is per day, not per journey

    From 2 January 2026 it is £18 a day paid on the day, £21 if paid within three days afterwards. It goes on the quote at cost, and the part people do not expect is that a move running over two days is charged twice.

  2. Red routes cannot be suspended

    A borough parking bay can be suspended for a fee. A red route is TfL's, and no amount of notice or money suspends it. On those streets the plan is a side road and a longer carry, or a load timed for when the restriction lifts — worked out beforehand.

  3. Loading bays are measured in minutes

    Twenty or thirty is common. That is a delivery window, not a house move. Relying on one is how a move collects tickets, so we treat a bay as somewhere to start rather than somewhere to park.

  4. Porters, and lifts that were never meant for furniture

    Mansion blocks usually want the move booked with the porter and the lift protected. Period conversions above them often have no lift at all, just a narrow Georgian stair with a tight return at every floor.

Worth knowing

In Central London the parking is the job

Everywhere else in the city, access is one of the things that sets the price. Here it is usually the thing that sets it. Two identical flats a hundred metres apart can be an ordinary day and a very long one, entirely because of what the kerb outside allows.

So the survey starts outside rather than inside. Where can a Luton legally stand, for how long, and how far is that from your front door. Whether the bay can be suspended, what the council wants and how much notice. Whether the building expects the lift booked.

None of that can be settled over the phone, and a firm that quotes Central London without asking is quoting a different job from the one it will turn up to.

Asked about Central London

Do I pay the Congestion Charge?
It goes on the quote at cost, itemised, so you can see it rather than find it folded into a round number. If the move spans two days it appears twice, because that is how TfL charges it.
Can you suspend the parking outside my flat?
On a borough-controlled bay, yes — but the application has to come from the resident, and councils want notice, often a fortnight in the central boroughs. We tell you which form and how long. On a red route it cannot be done at all.
My block has a porter. What do they need from us?
Usually the date booked in advance, the lift reserved, and proof of insurance. Some want moves inside set hours. Ask early: a porter saying no on the morning is the one problem no removals firm can solve for you.
Can you load in the evening or overnight?
Yes. Our crews work at any hour, so an overnight or early-morning slot is a normal booking rather than a favour. In Central London that is sometimes the only lawful option. Double red lines never lift, but a single red line carries a time plate, and outside those hours stopping is permitted (TfL, checked 18 August 2026). The same applies to a controlled parking bay: read the plate, then we build the plan around it.
